According to a recent REBNY sales report, New York City’s residential real estate market finished strong with upwards of $50 billion in total transactions. That said, overall home sales in the fourth quarter were actually down 2 percent from the previous year. Of the five boroughs, Queens and the Bronx saw increases, with the latter jumping by approximately 10 percent from the previous year.
In terms of total real estate consideration, Brooklyn hit a record-high of $11 billion in 2017. Although the sale of high-end real estate slowed last year, strong figures in areas outside of Manhattan offset the difference and helped the market retain its stability.
